The name Brock came to fruition back in the earlier part of the 18th Century and was originally named in honor of Major General Sir Isaac Brock who was given free land for his outstanding service in the War of 1812. Brock Township did not become a municipality until 1974, when restructuring of Durham Region incorporated Thorah, Beaverton, and Cannington to complete the new municipality of Brock.Brock is northeast of Toronto and sits on the east shore of Lake Simcoe.
