Cannington Real Estate
The name Brock came to fruition back in the earlier part of the 18th Century and was originally named in honor of Major General Sir Isaac Brock who was given free land for his outstanding service in the War of 1812. Brock Township did not become a municipality until 1974, when restructuring of Durham Region incorporated Thorah, Beaverton, and Cannington to complete the new municipality of Brock.
Brock is northeast of Toronto and sits on the east shore of Lake Simcoe. Within Brock’s borders, there are urbanized areas, hamlets and a rural countryside. The northern border opens up to the Trent-Severn Waterway that enters Lake Simcoe by Ramara Township. Brock is home to five locks and Thorah Island in Lake Simcoe. Brock possesses many communities within it including: Beaverton, Cannington, Ball Subdivision, Blackwater, Wilfrid, Cedar Beach, Wick, Derryville, Vroomanton, Creighton’s Corner, Thorah Beach, Gamebridge, Sunderland, Layton, Vallentyne, Maple Beach, Saginaw and Pinedale. Beaverton hosts the main body of the community and much of the commercial businesses.
Real estate and properties for sale in Brock are unique and possess high levels of charm, interesting character, and are abundant in square footage and lot sizes. When home buyers are looking within the Brock area of Durham, there isn’t any restrictions when it comes to variety. Semi-detached and detached homes for sale are quality builds and investors will be delighted that there is land lots and commercial spaces also for sale and lease. Any home buyer can entertain the prospect of having their home and business together in Brock as there are also stores for sale that possess loft apartments and/or converted office space within the same building. Brock offers farm land for sale, vacant lots and areas for industrial potential. As Durham Region and Brock grows, now is the time to invest in the country setting for country-style living! There are elementary and secondary/high schools within Brock for residents that have children.
As agriculture is top of the list as the largest industry in the area of Brock and the biggest employer of this area, there are many other commercial businesses found in the more urban areas. There is nothing quite like country living, with access to freshly harvested and locally sourced foods, farmer’s markets are abundant 3 seasons of the year for residents and visitors to Brock. There are also an abundance of parks that make outdoor fun a daily occurrence (Beaverton Ball Park, Manilla Park, Sunderland Park, Beaverton Harbour & Harbour Park, Cannington MacLeod Park, Port Bolster Park, Brock Soccer Park and Mill Gateway Park). Beaverton Harbour & Harbour Park possess picnic areas, marina, playground area and beaches. A boat launch is available to the public as is the walk-out pier. In the winter months, the harbour is a hot spot for skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice fishing trips to Lake Simcoe. Each of the parks provide their own recreational outlets, trails, bike paths, fairs and festivals with play areas for the kids. The Bear River Trail is especially appealing to all ages for cycling and walking/jogging. Everything from maple syrup tasting to music festivals to dog sled races to museum hopping is enjoyed by Brock residents and visitors. Antique boutiques, golfing and foodie venues are plentiful throughout the Durham Region amongst many other interesting ways of spending an afternoon with family.

Durham Region Transit also offers specialized transit services that provides for passengers with accessibility needs. Riders can also combine DRT with GO Bus fares into one fare to make getting into other regions easier.
Farmers’ Markets are all around Brock for those residents wishing to get in a little exploration of new areas of Durham. In Whitby, the Zdanowicz Farm, the Wind Reach Farm, the Junker Farms, and Algoma Orchards Farm are great to visit. In Uxbridge area, the Brooks Farms, Siloam Orchards, Twinkle Berry Farm Market and Uxbridge Farmers Market are a must see (and taste!). Pickering possesses 2 special spots, the Pickering Farmer’s Market and the Pickering Markets. Ajax is home to the Ajax Farmers Market and Stroud Farms. If laying on a sandy beach is the order of the day, residents can make their way to North Beach or South Beach in Beaverton to enjoy the sand and the calmness of the Beaverton River as it makes it way to Lake Simcoe. Port Bolster Beach and Thorah Centennial Park with a grassy beach area also provide relaxing shoreline fun. The waters along the shoreline can be a great potential area for windsurfing and kiteboarding. The Cypriote Museum (in Brock) has a fantastic collection of Neolithic to Medieval time period pieces as well as additional pieces from alternate time periods.
